You Are Entitled to Medical Treatment

Pursuing Rights for People Injured in Workplace Accidents

If you have been injured in a workplace accident, you are entitled to visit the best doctors in Chicago. There is no reason why you shouldn't be treated by the same orthopedic surgeon who treats the Black Hawks, Bears or Bulls.

Many clients who visit Smoler Law Office for the first time are often confused by how workers' compensation in Illinois really works. The act which governs workers' compensation says that injured workers are entitled to proper medical care. Period.

Contact Smoler Law Office at 1-888-508-0430 for a free consultation.

Attorney Robert Smoler has been practicing workers' compensation law for more than 25 years. Our goal at Smoler Law Office is to protect the rights of every injured worker client in the Chicago and Cook County area. The first consultation is free, and there is no obligation.

Finding Appropriate Medical Care

You are entitled to two choices of doctors. The care you received in the emergency room does not count, nor does the ambulance ride to the hospital. If you visit a physician recommended by your employer, that doesn't count as one of your choices either.

The first choice is your choice entirely. If you stay within the network of your first choice and get referrals within the network, you are free to visit a number of physicians for care. You may decide to leave the first network, and visit another. That counts as your second choice. Again, you may visit physicians within that network with no penalty as long as you have a referral. If you decide to leave the second network and start with a third without a referral, then payment will be your responsibility.

As long as you are being treated for your workplace accident injury, all medical expenses are processed through the fee schedule, and there is no limit on expenses.

Getting the Help You Need

We want to make sure you get the treatment you deserve after your construction accident. If you do not know where to start, we can recommend a number of trusted clinics and practitioners. It's important to begin treatment right away, as delayed treatment may result in a denial of the claim.

What about medical expenses?

As long as you have a valid workers' compensation claim, medical expenses should be covered 100 percent.
